1" deep contact surface. I tossed one in the ovalized headtube of my aluminum Specialist. The bike worked and still rides great to this day.

Fit Type - Fit type refers to if the headset is internal or external. Most headsets you see how and days are external, meaning the bearings mounted externally on top of the headtube, however, bikes that use a 1.5” headtube allow for an internal headset, making your stack height that much lower.
