--Round 1 of the Ayrshire MTB Series kicks off on Sunday the 26th May with the MiniDH race!!

Come on down! This is grass roots mountainbike racing folks, if u don't usually race, never tried it before, think normal racing is a bit too serious and expensive for you but fancy giving it a go in a relaxed, easy going format, morning practice, race runs in the afternoon, BBQ & burgers in the middle...then come along and sign on!

The AMS Ayrshire Mountainbike Series kicks of on Sunday the 26th May with a rejuvenated format. Instead of the previous races that were held in the evenings and due to popular demand, the organisers have decided to move the races to the weekends. All but one of the races will be on a Sunday, this means a whole mornings practice with race runs in the afternoon. There will be 4 Mini Downhill races and 3 Mini Cross country races.

The EVR Bike club and Ayrshire Mountainbike Series have a shed load of events planned to help mark the start of National Bike Week starting off with rounds 2 and 3 of the AMS being held on the Bike week opening weekend of 15th & 16th June. EVR's Scottish Cycling and MBLA qualified coaches, Jamie and Carol Cooper will be providing special MTB coaching sessions leading up to Bike Week, helping to give bikers specific skills training centred around the MiniDH and MiniXC Racing. AMS race organisers are delighted to announce that Walkers Cycles will be sponsoring the series and will be along to every race to provide prizes and a special bike Demo day on AMS MiniXC Round 2 on Saturday the 15th June!

Event organiser, Jamie Cooper said "we have gone all out this year to make the AMS racing series the best its ever been with new sponsorship, support and new tracks, it should make for a great all round grass roots racing experience. Moving the races to the weekends has allowed us to spread the practice out for longer, allow time for course walking, eating some of Kim and Carols burgers and of course race runs,"
