2015 British Downhill Series and Pearce Cycles champion, 19-year-old Shaun Richards, from South Wales has proved many people wrong this year, with an excellent string of wins. The privateer has been on the top step on many occasions this season and has competed in some of the world cups including a 67th in elite at Fort William.
Seeking a team sponsor for 2016, Shaun is confident that he can take what he's learned this year into his first year of elite next season and be up there with the big names. His raw speed and ability to ride on every terrain will help him get to the next step of his career:
"I have been riding a box standard Saracen Myst this season, nothing has been changed or been tuned for me. Having factory support for next season would benefit me a huge amount because it would help me to the next level to where I want to be."
“I have always been confident in myself and like to prove people wrong, I believe in myself to always push my limits and challenge myself to new heights. Fort William has been my best World Cup this season with a 67th, and I’m already thinking about ways I can do better next season. Winning the BDS this year was something I had been training hard last winter and throughout the season for and happy that I did it. Also, I have won the Pearce Cycles Series three times in a row now, having won it twice I didn’t want to stop there. The only negatives I have had this season is at the rest of the world cups, this is due to bad luck and poor performance. But on the other hand, I have taken away experiences that have helped me build as a rider, on and off the track. Although I am over the moon with my results and achievements, I am also happy for the people who help me to get where I am. My mum and dad, Pilch and Julie have given up a lot for me, winning these championships lets me give something back to them and gives them something to be proud of. This is only the beginning for me, and only being 19. I cant wait to see what the future holds for me in the next couple of years” –
Shaun RichardsShaun's previous results include becoming 2014 Welsh Champion in junior, and a series of wins at regional level races too. Bringing a strong background and confidence into the future. Crank Brothers and Five ten have helped out Shaun for the past two years and he would like to thank them for all the support.
