Sunday February 8th marked the second annual Frozen Rodeo in Bragg Creek. Frozen rodeo is the celebration of everything fat bike in the Rockies! The event was put on by the Calgary Cycle Group, out of their Bragg Creek location Cycle 22x. The day started and ended at the shop in the form of a poker run.
Below average trail conditions almost shut down the event but the organizers at Calgary cycle modified the route to ensure little harm to the trails and the most fun for everyone involved!
The day started off at 10:00 at Calgary Cycle’s Bragg Creek location, 22X. Participants were given one free poker hand and allowed to purchase additional hands at a price of $10.00 per hand, with all proceeds going to the Greater Bragg Creek Trail Association. The money raised would then be donated so the trail builders could continue their magic on the trails.
After registration everyone headed out too the trailhead where they were greeted by the Calgary Cycle team cooking hot dogs and serving hot coco from the team race trailer. The route went up Bragging Rights to Merlin and participants were given extra cards for each lap they completed around Merlin View.
Mud was the theme of the day as it was a balmy 12 degrees for most of the afternoon. At 4:00 everyone headed back to Calgary Cycle 22X caked in mud to draw poker hands, and see who was taking home prizing from Salsa, Bontrager, and Endura!
The grand prize was a Mukluk 3 frame and fork taken home with smiles all around! The night ended with burgers and beers and Creekers Bistro next door to the shop to celebrate the day! Thank you to everyone who came out!!
The Frozen rodeo also marks the start of Calgary Cycles Demo Blow-out and end of the season sale for fat bikes at all Calgary Cycle locations. Visit www.calgarycycle.com or call (403) 277-3430 to see the awesome deals available!
Presumably the other three were censored.
That means 50% comments were censored. Wow Pinkbike, wow.
CM!
And fat bikes don't make ruts, duh. Low ground pressure right? Don't ever venture into McLean creek, you would have a total aneurysm out there with all that pesky rutting.
Good show 22X, sorry I missed it!
