racing, riding, bikes, whatever floats your boat...
Marc, Awesome blogg...why no me know bout this eh??? "says with hands in the air with Italian acsent"
Today is Saturday the 9th of NOVEMBER......i am racing a 4 hour XC teams race....2 hours of afternoon 35* heat then 2 hours of cool darkness with nothing but my bike and myself trying to stay focussed on dusty trails in the dark.....All the race info i have is on FB (seems to be the new way for the cool kids to arrange shit now and cant post it on PB). Basically the race is two riders per team, its like a relay and each lap should take 26min but the cool kids lycra bitches can do it in 16min.I dont plan to take off hard and push too early as we will try to get through the 1st hour and the hot weather....We do all of our riding in darkness so when the lights come onto our handle bars we believe this is where we can make our attack and hopefully get as high as a top 15 in the team event.....but it will be hard as folk from all over OZ will be flying iin as well as NZ and Asia (so i heard anyway)...... My training has been hampered by a thumb injury at work,a flu im just shaking and a few minor mechanicals but we are racing in the spirit of MTB and hope to enjoy it for what it is.The race is more against ourselves than the other 120 riders accross all classes. We have 2 goals for today...1 is to not hike the bike for 1cm and 2 is to go hard when the darkness comes....... I have all my kit sorted and food/drink ready and the bike is going to war all pretty and proud...the light battery is charging now and i have double checked my spare tubes and tools about 30 times lol.....now at this point i am just gonna let my training and my bike do the thinking and dont want to exhaust my mind into starting the race too early.I have dotted every i and crossed every t...i am ready..... My race day kit will be Sam Hill 5-10's,work sox,Fox baggy shorts with padded lycra under shorts,a royal short sleeve jersey and trail helmet.....
glad you like my little blog bro and thanks for the pre race input, this is just priceless...is sucks that we can't post the pics directly onto this thread but posting links is the next best thing...it's going to be hot one bro, do you guys have a high humidex factor on top of that heat ???...you're full on ready to go to battle, I really wish you and your partner the best of luck...
I will post mid race too Marc to keep you in the loop......i am now shitting through the eye of a needle lol...good nerves....hope to get some pics too for ya all.....oh and all the local TV stations will be there filming reports and newspapers too...i think there will be a shit load of stuff to put on here once the race is done and dusted pic wise.....
ooops, almost missed this one,,,it's probably better to keep this thread together as I only get one reply notification even though there were more than one reply on different threads...forgot to ask bro, are you guys allowed to switched bikes during the race in case of a mecanical problem ???...the best option would be to have at least a spare wheelset to keep in the pit area just in case...most sponsored riders must have a well furnished pit area for such a long race, anyone you know racing solo ???...
yes mate we can switch bikes...no one did last night but it can be done.....i cant afford spare wheels bro so i just go in with my Sherman tank and hope for the best but i dont nurse it through either...yeah there were lots of tents and work shops...we had camping chairs and my rear door on china as our cover lol......but no one had as much pit fun as us....
hey, who can afford spare wheels anyway if you're not racing on a regular basis...it does not matter much anyway when you get a puncture and the spares are all the way back in the pit,,,,and just taking care of compatibility problems would take longer that fixing the damn tire in the first place, haha...
indeed it is mate.Still pretty easy to throw around but nothing like a 26"...not that im a "throw around kind of guy"....it screams on those sweet single tracks and climbs well but the downs are scary fast....its only now im laying off the brakes lol. This bike is a winner and is way beyond my skill set but always gets me through ruff stuff.......i sometimes think i should have got a Anthem or epic but when im riding i think how lucky i am to have such a great, under rated bike.
The Condor Super Acciaio is billed as a thoroughbred race frame by the London builder, and Kristian House (Rapha-Condor-JLT) was riding one on the Tour of Britain finale stage in London on Sunday.
First produced in the mid-1980s, the Master is a perennial favourite. It is the fruit of Colnago’s extensive experience in steel tubing, welding, and lugged frame construction techniques. It’s entirely designed, made and chromium plated in Italy with DT15V steel. The Master offers supreme comfort thanks to the ride quality offered by the custom drawn steel tubing. The star-shaped tubes and chromed lugs combined with a 1-inch chrome plated steel Precisa fork make it a classic and truly elegant bicycle that offers a ride unlike anything else. Available in 16 sizes and three colour variations.
Rule #20// There are only three remedies for pain. These are:
If your quads start to burn, shift forward to use your hamstrings and calves, or If your calves or hamstrings start to burn, shift back to use your quads, or If you feel wimpy and weak, meditate on Rule #5 and train more!
Former multi-time Danish national cyclocross champion Joachim Parbo (Challenge Tires) has moved from carbon fiber to steel for this season. The Cielo Cross Racer Disc - the latest project by Chris King - is an object of desire for many discerning amateurs. Parbo's Cross Racer features oversized and thin-walled butted chromoly tubing and is dressed up with a 44mm-diameter head tube surrounding a tapered steerer, a PressFit 30 bottom bracket shell, and polished stainless steel fittings that are machined in-house.
This year’s ExpoBici in Padova, Italy featured a special creation: a collaboration between tubeset makers Dedacciai, framebuilder Darren Crisp and Pez. Building up a sweet, titanium Show Bike can be a lot of fun, even if it never gets ridden…
yessss, can't wait to see it !!!...you're getting a new sled to replace the Canyon, right ???...what will you be getting this time ???...I started this blog so we could discuss within our own little PB sub-community, haha...bringing some sane reviews on components, bikes, apparels, that we use all the time...Mick will be doing 4-hour XC race this weekend, we could also use this page to discuss what it takes to get ready for our weekend warrior runs, haha...it's also easier to stay on the same thread to receive a reply...
that's pretty good !!!...a full 2 lbs (almost 1 kg) lighter than the Nomad I had built...a bike weight is such a relative weight, are you running dh casing tires and heavy tubes ???...most of the dead weight comes from the wheelset anyway but that's exactly where I'm not ready to compromise,,,I just went through a full season without a single flat !!!...brother, you've got yourself and amazing sled...
She's a beauty man! As for the tires, I'm running Maxxis Minion 2.35 DHF single ply brother. The bike weighs exactly 16kg now. Don't much care about the weight. My enduro rig has to through her weight around in order for the suspensions to work well
Haven't weighed the RM, feels around the same as the Turner Sultan 29er which is touching 31lb on an XL 29er. Could be lighter though? She is....

I'm selling her bro ? lol....serious. I'm £2300 in debt so I need all the help I can get. That woman ruined me and making me sell off all my babies...My bank balance is going further down bro, I can't live like this no more?
