Diary of an Ol' Man

This is what I predict I will look like in 2024.

Hey, PBers. Stop yawning, slap your face, and pay attention!

I came across this photo and went, "Oh, man! That'll be me in a few..." Ha! Hey, at least I will be riding a pink bike!

I hope you all had a great Christmas and received at least ONE bike part (including a whole bike) under your tree. I was delighted to find a new (used) Park work stand under mine which will make truing my wheels on the Jackal a snap. At my weight and size, truing wheels is an every-ride occurrence, so....

It has been fun finding new riding friends here on PB. Pretty cool to see so many people having a great time riding. And the DJ sections here are CHOCK FULL of condors (no disrespect, Matt Hoffman). I really enjoy seeing all the "local" bike shops still going strong (thanks to my friend "Huckwagon" www.huckwagons.com for showing me that on my dashboard). I am all about finding a great deal on bike stuff, but there will always be something to say about having a shop with cool peeps who know their stuff that you can spend an hour or two with talking about our favorite past time. Hey, so we might have to wait a day or two for our local shop to get that special part in AND pay some sales tax... but when the stuff hits the fan, they will be there with smiles, service, and advice. Who knew I could get a 30.9mm pivotal seat post? My Arlington Velo www.arlingtonvelosport.com dude did!

I found a great post, " 40 and over mountain bikers," https://www.pinkbike.com/forum/listcomments/?threadid=141561 which has been a kick to be a part of. Nice to see so many riders from my era (should I say century?) still trying to figure out how to do a can-can without destroying their spleens. Thank goodness for health insurance! (Sorry to those still laboring through our version of government health care... yikes!)

Anyhow, my roommate just finished cooking some serious scallops, so I am going to eat 'em while they are warm. Until next time, PBers, remember that you haven't done a good curb endo unless there are tire marks on the crack of your white polyester Nike shorts....
