So the Vic Downhill Series in Australia is well under way now with the first two rounds having been completed. The first was filled with mud and rain and the second featured gnarly rock sections and many broken bones.
Videos inside!Alright, this is my first blog post here on Pinkbike. My name is
Robert Shedden. I'm 16 years old and from Melbourne, Australia. I've been filming riding for probably just over a year. I filmed the first two rounds of the Victorian downhill series last year... I wanted to film the entire series but I went on exchange to
Canada for six months. So this season has been a huge learning curve for me, having come back after not having filmed any riding for six months.
The first round of the series was held at
Eildon just north east of
Melbourne, Australia. There was no denying it; the track turned to crap after the first day. It even snowed very nearby! The event organisers and other individuals worked tirelessly beforehand only to have the tracked flooded in some sections. This isn't to say that the riders didn't enjoy the event
A few interstate riders such as
Connor Fearon and the
Crimmins brothers graced us with their presence and managed to grab some podium spots. Mud was the word on everyone's lips and there sure was plenty of it! Alright so I guess by this point you all want to see my vid yeah? Okay this is my short film of the first round of the
VDHS 2010-2011:
The results for the elite men are as follow:
1. Connor Fearon
2. Tim Eaton
3. Joel Panozzo

The second event was held only a couple of weeks ago at a track in
Barjarg. The track is notorious for claiming skin and blood of riders. The Barjarg track is commonly referred to as Victoria's
best DH track. Humidity and mozzies were two main features of the weekend. Although the weather turned nasty toward the end of the practice day, the race day became sunny and almost hot at times.
I talked to a heap of people at this race and made some new contacts
I'm always told that networking is the most important thing a filmer can do. The Panda decided to make an appearance at this race and his presence was very much desired by all of the riders and onlookers, he's a pinner! Alright without further ado I give you my short film of the second round of the series:
Connor Fearon managed to take out the first place for the Elite men (again!) if he gets any faster he is going to take off. The results are as follows:
1. Connor Fearon
2. Liam Panozzo
3. Joel Panozzo

I'm going to try and update my blog every time I go filming, so stay tuned
