Remember the Troops Race
The morning of the race was a wet one with on and off showers and a slow yet increasing wind. Nether the less around 60+ riders turned up including spectators shouting words of support as the practising commenced. After a few tumbles and practise was done there was a minute of silence at 11 to remember the fallen troops. As the day went on the rain got heavier in patches and the course got chewed up slowly over the duration of the day, however this did not deter the riders from giving it their all and getting to the bottom of the course. There were a few riders that braved the course even though their injuries from earlier in the race season including broken ribs, rotor cuff injuries and the best of them all – a broken foot! Seeing someone bike with a broken foot is a spectacle in itself!
Overall it was a brilliant and well organised day! The weather didn’t put a dampener on things one bit. A huge well done to everyone who raced, Trev for organising and running the event and all the sponsors. Also a special thank you to Trev for organising a little gift to all the ladies to say thank you – a pair of beautiful dog tags with the day and event name engraved on them. A huge £1500 was raised all for a good cause! I personally can’t wait until next year, hope to see you all there if not before!
