Story of an ending

Following a lawsuit against one builder, yesterday was the end of one "secret spot".
This lawsuit was initally set on the demand of a hunting association feeling like the construction of the spot was a cause of degradation over the local wildlife : degradation of the terrain, trees cut... and so on. These alledged charges were of course false as the ground there had been damaged by many logging vehicles way before the shapers even knew about that place and trees that may have been re-used were actually lying abandonned on the ground for a long time.

Moreover, everything on this spot had been built using hand tools, with no help of excavators or machinery.

In fact, the real problem here is that the presence on this part of land did not permit any hunting activity in the proximity of the spot.
To explain it a bit, in France, there are two reasons for hunting : one to prevent the over-developpement of certain species that destroy cultures or so, and one that is just oriented at killing an animal for fun. In the second case, wich concerns this affair, hunters spend their time feeding animals in certain locations when the hunting season is off, and then cut off the feeding and have fun "hunting" during the authorised season (autumn/winter).

As you may imagine, the lands in France (or even in Europe) are way smaller than in other countries like the US or Canada. Wich means the hunting associations are a lot after any nice land strips, in order to dispose of their very own "slaughtering space". From there on, anything can be a pretext to exclude other activities from these perimeters.

Now that line is just flat...

The story http www.pinkbike.com u KRVZ blog RIP.html
The atmosphere urging to keep faith as the last jumps are being destroyed.

In this context, the spot had to be destroyed to end the lawsuit againt this builder, and fulfill the satisfaction of a bunch of guys willing to kill a few animals for fun. You can't always get what you want...
Everything was done in a good state of mind, and it was finally as fun as shaping. Something else will just be built somewhere else. The choice of a steepier place may keep away drunk gun fans who can't move without the help of their cliché offroader... Wink

Bonus "fun" fact : more than 10 person have been involved in the construction of the spot and many of them have actually ridden it. One builder endorsed all the responsabilities to protect these people, but only 3 people showed up when it was time to help dismantling.

 Salut les Belfortains,

So sad for the spot, especially because there is no valid reason to destroy it. I like how you describe hunting in France Wink

Is someone sent the biggest jump (which one is unmolded) before destruction ?

I'm looking forward from shapping with you soon.
