The series returns back to Finland after short but successfull visit to Sweden. The venue for this weekends race is at Ounasvaara´s Kona Bikepark, rignt next to the city of Rovaniemi in Northern Finland. Ounasvaara bikepark has some 140m of vertical to play with. While 140m vertical doesn't sound like much, but the available height is very effectively used here. Weather looks promising with varying sunshine and clouds, but without rain and much of wind. Good weather had attracted quite many early birds training already on Friday...
Weather should be good throughout the weekend
There will be six different stages which will be run twice during the race. All stages have at least some new sections from last year, plus one completely new stage. The terrain is again quite different from previous races of this year, mostly consisting of open slickrock on top of the hill and on lower slopes proper forest singletracks in the pine forests, with _lots_ of small rocks. Fresh tracks and trails have seen quite big change already, although official practice day will be tomorrow Saturday and race on Sunday.
Mastermind behind the trails here, Ari Kurvinen looking fast, as usual...
Juuso ripping the berms on the final stage of the race
Fresh tracks were changing a lot during the day, lots of roost to be seen on these off-camber turns...
There should be plenty of good riding tomorrow and good race on sunday, stay tuned for more report and photos...
