My progression as a human and rider. Losing weight and increasing my power was the best upgrade to my riding.
I no longer wonder if I can climb the local trails, I now wonder how fast I can do it.
Group rides used to be intimidating and I was always concerned about holding up the group and quite frankly I was worried about embarrassing myself.
Who likes to be the slow guy in the group, I felt like a burden.
I was fueling my rides quite well, too well when I think back at it now. In my opinion, if you have extra fat you are trying to get rid of, "don't fuel your workouts, workout your fuel!"
Don't get me wrong I adjusted my riding to more polarized training, less time spent in the kinda hard kinda long zone, and more in the low intensity and longer zone, or the intense but very short intervals.
I spent quite some time training my body to become better at burning fat during the rides. Going slow takes discipline, more than one would think.
Building a durable "diesel engine" requires avoiding putting gas in the tank. In my case, I used a low-carb diet along with a synchronized training approach.
