Chaoyang Brasil Enduro Series 2017 - Round 1, Mud Fest

After a long off-season, the first round of the Chaoyang Brasil Enduro Series kicked off in Santo Antonio do Pinhal, during the weekend of March 18th–19th.



The rain and bad weather played a fundamental part in the race’s dynamic. The organizers had to change special stages and liaisons due to the radical mud conditions and the way it affected the trails and the safety of the riders. Despite all the changes the race was spot on and it was one of the most difficult rounds in the Chaoyang Brasil Enduro Series history. Athletes from ten different states attended the event, making it a real National race.


We have listened to our athlete's needs and suggestions and we stepped it up the level of the special stages. The downside was that we would have even more racing time and more stages. On the other hand, the rain helped to make the race even more technical and it was good to see how the adverse conditions affected the riders. A good point was that two stages finished literally in our pit area, giving the opportunity to the riders, teams, and spectators to watch the riders on the track.


Eleven categories started the race on a rainy Sunday. In the Infant category, the winner was Francisco Moreira Teatini. In the Sport – a new category for 2017 – the winner was Breno Arcuri Lemos (RevestTech). The Senior 2 category saw Marcos Dallaval (TDP) as the fastest of the day. The Senior 1 category winner was Helio Fontana Nassaralla (Starminas/Exceed/Localiza/Global/Specialized).


In Master 4, Caio Salerno (Groove Bikes/Shamir) took the win with an amazing top 15 overall. Lucas de Figueiredo Moreira (Mountain Bike BH/Da Matta Design/ Tripp Aventura) took the number one spot for the Master 3, while in Master 2, Luis Altenfelder Silva (Bornia&Cox/ CycleCousins/ Cheeba) won.


In the Master 1, probably the strongest category after the pros, Guilherme Renke (Nutrindo Ideias / Essential Nutrition / Camelback) took the win, while his brother Ronny Renke (Nutrindo Ideias/RKC) was the fastest in the Expert category. For the girls, Beatriz Ferragi (Cannondale/The Bike Culture/ASW) took the win.


In the Elite Pro, the Santa Cruz Bikes rider Wallace Miranda (Fox Head Brasil/Chaoyang/Dopamina) was the winner, followed by Thiago Verlardi (Montanhas Race) in second and Diego Knob Neumann (Santa Cruz/Petropolis Enduro Team/Malharia Zan) in third.
