T-BOLT Narrow Wide chainring

Hi fellow MTB riders. Just want to check in and add some gossip along with all the hype of Sea Otter Classic. Which i'm sick not to be attending to Big Grin

I feel like I owe you to share my experience with this T-bolt narrow wide chainring as this is a local (Denmark) rider owned company and not a big corporation who are in business for profit. Also T-bolt is not a firmly established brand in the MTB industry and I think that only the fewest have heard of them. Which is sad Smile

I use their chanirings for my one-up setup on my bikes. Bikes in two of them, as I still study and can't afford several other bikes. Which is also sad.

The reasons why I think this is a hell of rock solid product is the quality and the long life of the chainring. I have been riding this 34 tooth chainring for almost two years (both seasons, summer and winter) and I can give my warmest recommendations. At first I must be honest that I purchased the chainring to support T-bolt as a local small start-up, but as soon as I first got the chainring in hand I was amazed by the light weight of the ring, almost as a feather (42 gram for a 34-T gpx) and just look at the wicked graphic details.

As I live in flat Denmark I have to work (pedal) for my descending to gain speed, this impacts the drivetrain which is then mostly under constant thread, but still the drivetrain is silent and keeps the chain locked to chainring - which is really nice and gives confidence in the material as I does not have to worry about loosing my chain and crash horrible because of a loose chain. As we all know a loose chain is a bad combination with a strong threadhold, been there done that, took the photo and got the T-shirt. Never again! Now I just crash into threes or on slippy roots etc. etc.

The outstanding performance is no coincidence, as the development of the chainring is designed to last in bad weather conditions (it rains a lot in Denmark, but not as much as in UK) as the toots spits mud away from the driveside to minimize mud going into your drivetrain and make unpleasant noises and in the end loose your chain. Also the rings are threated with some surface protection to enhance the life of the rings. This I defiantly can confirm as I almost mistreat my gear sometimes, see the picture below. Two years in and still going strong. But nevertheless I maybe need a new one soon Smile

If I have to be critical to my recommendation and comparison to related products which is hard to distinguish by. I have also used Raceface and Blackspire chainrings in the past, and like their color variations and possibilities, and the price is good. However I feel that they were more affected of heavy use compared to T-bolt, but still very good products. Like Fords' Model-T, T-bolt chainrings comes also only in Black, which is kind a cool in my opinion. Nonetheless the price for T-bolts' chainrings is slightly over average, and starts at 67 EUR but considered the long lasting and awesome design I find the price appropriate.

T-bolt also design, develop and produce Titanium bolts (hereby the name, I guess) along with other cool products. For further details - visit T-bolts' homepage
