The fifth B.E.E.R. Enduro Attack marked the final race of the 2018 Enduro Alliance Series. 350 riders from across the Philippines flocked to the historic city of Pilar, Bataan, site of the Bataan Death March, to endure their own version of mass struggle.

Six categories. Three Stages. 30 kilometers of racing. It all ends here.

Mt Samat at 545 masl is no big mountain terrain, but its tracks offer more than a few surprises for the riders

Liaison stages take you through the rice fields of rural Bataan with the Mt.Samat Cross looming in the background.

Special Stage 1 is the shortest of all, which made for some tight racing in all categories

Christopher Prado gritting it out on one of the punchy climbs of SS1

You against the clock. No time to stop and smell the flowers.

Wide open tracks made for lots of overtaking opportunities

SS1 provided a lot of excitement but some of the (four-legged) spectators were not too impressed

Special Stage 2 is a stark contrast from the flowy sections of Stage 1. Ralph "Papaya Legs" Ramento pedaled his way to second place in the 20-29 age category.

Multiple rock gardens and root-infested sections await the riders who might make that small mistake

The weather gods did not look kindly upon the 30-39 category, opening up the skies just as the first few riders were released for Stage 3.

photo
It featured the steepest sections of the tracks which made for an entertaining race for everyone, mostly for the spectators.

Some riders were more “stumped” than others. Could’ve only been better if he were riding a Stumpy. *Badum-tss*

Cheering and jeering. It was a fun time to be a spectator.

The race was epic, the after-party even more so. For reasons of public safety and human dignity, pictures of the celebration were deemed inappropriate for publishing. The shenanigans should be experienced first hand as pics won’t do them justice.

Congrats to the Enduro Alliance team for a successful season. It will be a tough act to follow, but they’ll definitely manage to outdo themselves, just like they did this year. It’s exciting to see what the team has in store for everyone for next year. See you at the races!
