Press Release: Radio Bikes

The wait is over. Our MTB specific Sonar Freecoaster Hubs are here. We worked with Wethepeople BMX to utilise their new patented “HYBRID” Freecoaster system creating a totally new type of freecoaster hub that functions unlike anything else whilst being fully convertible into a regular cassette hub with no extra parts.

Based on a similar construction to a regular cassette hub, the Radio Sonar Freecoaster Hub offers a super lightweight, simple to adjust Freecoaster hub with the durability advantages of a cassette hub. With a much larger (and fully adjustable) slack system, and a “MagnaDrive” magnetic pawl retention system, the Sonar Freecoaster requires little to no maintenance compared to the heavy and unreliable clutch style freecoasters of the past.

Despite the advantages of a Freecoaster hub, the Sonar Freecoaster Hub weighs 33% less than most Freecoaster hubs and offers zero friction and resistance making it one of the smoothest and fastest rolling hubs out there, no matter if you’re going forwards or backwards.
We’ve been working extremely hard with Radio MTB team rider Niklas Tilk for over 4 years now to get this thing perfect. Available with 135mm spacing, a disc mount and an option of a 10t 1pc and 12t cog driver; these hubs have been a huge amount of work but we are well and truly stoked and pleased with the end result.
