- PORC ROUND 7 RACE REPORT-

Last weekend saw the team at the eagerly awaited final round of the 2013 PORC DH race series. Mike Jopseph and his ruthless band of cutthroat track builders had this time excelled themselves with a track so gnarly in the wet muddy conditions that even the great man Chuck Norris would have had to think twice about his choice of underwear when considering getting the bike out to thrash the track out.
The main features of the track was a really well thought out and massively wide rock garden which contained untold number of different lines through it, straight into a steep switchback chute (again with extra rocks added for fun) then down to what has been described as the best section for crowd viewing in the whole series; steep run down to 2 small(ish) drops then 6 foot gap down a bowl into a monster road gap which at it's widest point was getting on for 20 foot, then down to another 7 foot gap and onwards.
Many people commented that during the summer dust that track section will be totally amazing, similar people also commented that in the wet November slop that track section was totally insane with riders having to hurl themselves through the cheers and cow bells and cram in those 2 or 3 extra pedal strokes through the moist earth to launch them selves over the big gap. Many landed flat but with but with the nicely carved transition the crowd vultures were frustrated as thankfully injuries and bike breakages were few and far between.

The day started muddy with the track gradually drying out causing the rocky chute to get carved out like a beaver chewing a stump and then just at the start of run 3 the gods saw fit to once again hurl rain and the occasional collection of hail stones into the mix just to really give that last run of the series some not really actually needed extra excitement! All in all it was an amazing close to the brilliant race series and it couldn't have gone better with riders spraying mud in every which way as they fired themselves down the track.

Whisper Bikes Race Team results were good once again with top positions going to Mac Attack Friend grabbing the number 1 spot in Juniors and Sam Rogers 3rd; Gary North with a safe 3rd in Masters and Guy Theron getting the pole position in Vets.
PORC final championship team rankings saw Mac Attack getting 1st in juniors closely followed by Sam in the number 4 spot; Jamie Askew reaching 4th in the very tough Seniors section; Gary 4th in Masters together with Nick Kelleher and Dom Landreth also in the top 10 and Guy 2nd in Vets.

The final race of the PORC series also saw the team each issued with their ZAGWAY bars and stem. Every team member had nothing but good words to say about the parts which stood up perfectly to the harsh track, "stem and bars combo is wickedly good. Build quality is unreal", "amazing, never had a bar and stem feel that good straight off the line" and "Really happy with the zagway combo feels good to ride an looks sweet" to quote but a few.
Next weekend sees the team taking the trip back to the Hampshire quarry for round two of the Gravity Project Indian Summer series. It's bound to be a cracker!
