IMIC Instructor Level II Class

On extremely short notice I learned that Shaums March was going to be in town to do a little teaching. I have met and hung out with Shaums before and know that he is a great teacher, great rider and all around good dude. How could I pass up a class put on by him in my hometown. I got signed up for the class at the last minute. Shaums is the head of the IMIC (International Mountainbike Instructor Certification), formerly the CMIC (Canadian Mountainbike Instructor Certification).
The purpose of the class was to certify participants as Instructors, basically the middle level of what IMIC has to offer. The class was three long intense days. Not a lot of actual riding but a lot of teaching and learning.

Shaums helped us through three intense days of instruction, teaching us the finer points of guiding, and how to instruct beginner to intermediate mountain bikers simple skills that we all use on the trail. All nine people in the class got a chance to teach various skills and cover the key points of each skill in a hands on environment.

Shaums is a demanding teacher and clearly takes pride in the IMIC and want to put it on the forefront of mountain bike instructor programs.
The class was really good and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn how to teach mountain bike skills. If your expectation of the class is to have Shaums coach you, this is not the class for you. Shaums is a great rider and a very good teacher. He has a profound knowledge of bike handling and how people learn.
