Here we are -- The final DROP IN Episode of season 3. Hope everyone enjoyed the last episode in Vegas at Interbike. Planning the season I would have never guessed that we would actually make it the entire way! Every season we enter into we plan
not to return home with the bus. Who would have known that she would make it as far as she did and deliver us all home safely? Amazing. Another thing that's amazing is the "Best-of Season 3" episode! You do
not want to miss this! Steal a TV, quit your job, if you always sleep in and miss Drop In - STAY UP ALL NIGHT! You won't regret it.Overall, we here at FALL LINE Productions don't carry a lot of confidence around. Every year we load up the old 1974 City Of Calgary transit bus and embark on another epic adventure. The only plan is the road map we have and a few dates we think we might be able to hit. We meet up with riders everywhere we go, some we know - most we've never met. We
try to go places no one knows about including ourselves. We never check the weather and no one wears a watch. The budget at the beginning of each shooting season is usually $50,000 less than what we need to complete the entire season but we scramble the rest of the year to try and catch up. Our credit cards are maxed out, collector's call so often we can recognize their number and we just don't answer - the "pay" sucks! Long term relationships have been torn apart because of Drop In, but most important is friends for life are gained and personally boundaries are transcended.
Why do we bother? When you watch the thirteenth episode you will know why.
There's more to life than sucking exhaust in traffic for 2 hours a day to get to a job where you sit in a cubicle and talk to people who's faces you'll never see, or voice ever hear about something that your paid to talk about. By the end of the tour, season after season the rider's on Drop In refer to it as "the
real world". There's places to go, things to see in your lifetime. There will come a time when you're sitting there one day and you'll realize that you're too old to try something you've always wanted to do. Maybe you don't necessarily want to go on a 75 day road trip riding your bike in the places you stop along the way but what we want to say is that usually, when you put your mind to something, you can pull off almost anything.
Quotable this episode:
Tim Bieber (Drop In Producer):
"It's just all about a 'good time'. I think that's what "freeride" is. That's the message that we try to get across... Do what you love to do."
Ryan Schnepf:
"Anything else that's going on in the 'outside world' just doesn't seem relevent... Go out, have fun with your friends, and keep a smile on your face."
Dylan Tremblay:
"Life is nothing but learning and growing. Just finding yourself and knowing yourself and proceeding to be the best you can."
Tyler Klassen:
"Party Naked."
Not everyone is as lucky as the Drop In Crew, we don't mean to brag about how lucky we all are to have this pet monster that helps bring us back to the reality that
isn't the "real world". We enjoy sharing our adventures with you all each year and we hope that you can find your own personal Drop In Tour.
Paradise is everywhere and every road, if one continues along it far enough, leads to it. One can only go forward by going backward and then sideways and then up and down. There is no progress: there is perpetual movement, displacement which is circular, spiral, endless. Every man has his own destiny: the only imperitive is to follow it, to accept it, no matter where it lead him.
