Too bad we're not into flying kites because the Fix Bikes Kite Jam could have been epic! In the face of the gale force winds, we still had a blast at the Fix Bikes Jump Jam...June in Colorado can be a little on the blustery side, and Sunday, June 6 was no exception. The winds blew all day, but The Fix Bikes Jump Jam went on. Just 24 hours before, we were watching the shredding at the Teva Games in Vail, Colorado (which you'll see in video format in a day or so) and Sunday we were back home in Boulder ready to do some shredding of our own.
This brave crew told the wind to beat it.
The tents went up, the jumps were prepped (thanks to some hard work the day before, after torrential rains did their damage) and riders and friends gathered in our Boulder backyard to enjoy BBQ, beverages and breezes on a sunny afternoon.
The wind blew so hard, Kevin's wheel got x'd up
Sometimes the wind was probably blowing at 30mph, but there would be lulls and riding went down. Fort Collins locals, micro groms and grown up dads all rode together on our different jump lines like "A minus," "Kneecap," and "Man Pants." There were a few slams, but no one got too wrecked and just as much as the jumps were shredded, so were the hotdogs and burgers.
Ft. Collins Luke clicks a nasty Look Back for some spectators.
Thanks to everyone who showed up to hang out, ride and enjoy the sunny day at the shop. Hopefully in the near future, robots of enormous size will available to use their laser beams on those pesky gales that hinder good dirt jumping. If they become available, we will buy them!

Evan Powell whips one out on Man Pants.
A Fort Collins local blasts his stock Specialized P1 into a mean toboggan on "Man Pants."
Luke turns it into the hip while the burgers grill in the background.
It's never too early to get into the dirt.
