In the Beginning

Just before the (horrible) year 2020 ended, I decided to quit my job as I had been planning to travel to the UK on January of this year to visit a loved one, and here I am today stuck in the middle of a pandemic. What a way to start my year, right? Not knowing when my journey will be back home -- instead, I decided to keep myself productive to ward my mind off the anxiety and at the same time learn new skills to encapsulate the things that I am really passionate about. It took me a while to figure out this stuff, as I just kept on brainstorming ways to keep myself preoccupied for the time being. After all the brainstorming and scribbles, this whole idea but somehow came into a clear picture piece by piece.

My first full suspension MTB

I consider myself as a “bike hobbyist” since ten (10) years back, as I also love taking photos and videos whenever we go out riding. Mountain biking for me started out as a weekend thing, which turned out to be a weekly routine (but becamo more like an obsession really). But now, it's become more of a lifestyle. Taking a trip down memory lane in 2013, as I had ridden my first full suspension bike, A Specialized Stumpjumper Camber Comp, brings back such a nostalgic feeling of joy and freedom. Since then I’ve been joining local Enduro MTB race events back home in Mindanao, where year after year before this pandemic came about, riders from all over the country would gather to take part in the race series.

Supporting the Local MTB Scene

The Philippines is one of the most underrated venue for Mountain Biking in general. I mean, there is a lot for people to see, discover and experience in this beautiful archipelagic nation in South East Asia. There isn't so much appreciation coming from the global spectrum about its potential in becoming a major MTB travel destination. Because of this, I draw inspiration from the humble Filipinos on there love and passion for this sport as I hope to support and put into writing on what the country has to offer. I'll just leave it out here for now, as we journey on with the homegrown MTB scenes.
