For non-high-pivot design bikes, the pedal efficiency can be improved by "interfering" with the compression of the rear suspension through the force applied to the pedal. This can be understood as using a partial amount of force applied on the pedal during acceleration to stretch the rear shock absorber in order to reduce the amount of compression. Although this improves the pedal efficiency, it also causes the rear suspension to become less responsive, leading to a decrease in its ability to absorb shocks during acceleration.


However, for high-pivot design bikes, because the pivot point is located higher, the force that causes the bike to squat backward during acceleration is already minimal. Therefore, there is no need to improve pedal efficiency by "interfering" with the compression of the rear suspension through the force applied to the pedal. As a result, high-revving bikes can simultaneously have high pedal efficiency and the ability to absorb shocks sensitively.
