Valley of Utopia, Guarda do Embaú

Located in the south of Brazil in the state of Santa Catarina, Utopia Valley is a paradise located between the hills of Pinheira Beach and Guarda do Embaú, this small town offers beautiful trails for mountain biking.

This trip begins in the downtown of the small and beautiful village of Guarda do Embaú. As soon as you arrive at Guarda do Embaú everyone is enchanted by the environment and the magic that this place offers. We left the vehicle parked in a private parking lot, drink an organic sugarcane juice and started the ride.


Utopia Valley is just 3.5 km from Guarda do Embaú, the nice thing about parking in Guarda is that you have good options for lunch and besides you can get warm for the Maço Trail in the valley. The route from Guarda do Embaú to Utopia Valley goes through a dirt road, it is very easy, all flat.


When you reach Praia de Cima in Pinheira you should go to the entrance portal of Maço Trail. This first ascent of 739m in length is also known as the Engenho Trail. The climb is very cool, has some gates that must remain in the state they were, open or closed. It has a degree of technical difficulty blue square or intermediate, in some parts if you like steep climbs will challenge yourself to make the climb all clean; D.



Once you finish the uphill the Engenho / Maço Trail you will have a view of the bay of Pinheira beach, Ponta do Papagaio and the south of Florianópolis Island from the beaches of Naufragados and Pântano do Sul. The look is breathtaking and the energy is fantastic.

The trail continues for a really cool downhill, the Carqueja Trail. This trail has some technical features, jumps and drops. If you like to take the wheels off the ground you will have fun and challenge your mountain bike.


This trail has a degree of technical difficulty black diamond, ie advanced due to some obstacles it has. Just one obstacle of the track that is not with an easy way, the others can be crossed without passing the jump or drop.


The Carqueja trail will take you to a magical portal of Utopia Valley, the look is amazing. This trail ends near Solita Beach or Prainha on a rocky shore. Take some time to rest and climb to a spout to get some fresh water. If you want to take advantage of the rocks to practice a trial or climb the hill to make some downhills, you will see some visible lines that can be made.



Return to the Carqueja trail to the first top and follow the Utopia Valley trail.


Arriving at Vale da Utopia beach to return you can climb the hill to the right of the beach, just above you will see an open path that will connect with the entrance portal of the Maço trail.


At this point you can also make some downhills in some lines that the hill allows you.
