Grumpy builder blog #1

After torential rain and also late snow, we are riding at Moose. However, even if the trails are in some of the best shape that they have ever been in, people are just arguing about mouthing off and then don't have the decency of responding to a counter argument?

wow what is this society coming to?Wow We have had a paid crew work a bunch of time to fix improve and maintain Moose and yet mother nature tossed us quite a few curve balls, from snow, to agressive bear to torential downpour, it has been really odd to go ride at Moose. On top of that everythign that was done was doen to improve the trails yet the nay sayers do nothign but bitch whine and complain. I am amazed at how uninformed and unable to have a discussion about it some of these people are. Yeah I am grumpy but I can express myself and recognize valid arguments like Cory's on the Crticial conditions for Calgary in the AM/XC forum.

What I have no respect for is people who don't know what they are talking about and think that we don't know what we are doing at Moose. You ask anybody that has built there and they will tell you, the amount of moisture we have this year to deal with is on the same level as in 2005 when we had floods. Lots of moisture in a very short period of time making its way down the mountain. In 3 weeks, when it is fully dry nobody will realize how much water went done the mountain. If there are puddles in a few spots, deal with it, you are not a work but having fun on a bike. I am not going to say that you should have been at the trail day then you can complain, that's not fair as everybody that has a job, kids, responsibilities can't always be there, I am a perfect example. I go build when I can, trail days are there to get a lot of people to buff up the trail, the real trailbuilding is done when the conditions are right (moisture, temperature, time required). I with the great work of Colin, Don, James, Rich, Rod and others have doen most of this year's building in March and April, there was nobody riding the trail, we dug dirt when it was thawed, we even dug a bit of snow to get to thawed dirt.

Let there be riding and grimmy smiling faces as you ride your bike

Right on Bro! I wish I could do more, but as you say, with family and job responsibilities there is only so much time available. Keep on riding and building Smile
