Mt. Tremblant Race Day

Getting rad is not a habit, its a way of life. This morning I woke 8AM on the nose and i was pumped! I drove over and picked fellow Devinci rider Andrew Mitchell and we came back to my B&B and had an awesome breakfast. The day was shaping up to be perfect, the weather seemed to be holding and I had a nice omelette in my stomach.

Drew and I arrived at the Devinci tent around 10 and got some work done on our bikes before we headed out to do our practice runs. I usually take forever getting ready so Drew went for a lap before I was finished swopping wheels and getting my kit on. I only did one run before the race and it was brutal... There were bodies littered everywhere down the track. I would only get about 50 feet then have to stop again. I was getting so fed up with it near the bottom that I decided to plant myself into a tree. Not the way I wanted to end my practice off.

Putting that behind me and getting some ice on my shoulder I hung around the tent while my bike was being sorted out. Huge thanks is in order for everyone from Devinci for keeping me running through-out the weekend. I would of been in major trouble if it wasn't for you guys.

I was set to leave the start gate at 2:28PM and I hate waiting around forever at the top so I thought that i would leave a little later then I usually would. I could not of timed it more perfect. Pinning it down the fire road to the start I walked to the top, got a drink of water and walked straight in like to start. Everything seemed to be falling into place. Now all I had to do was get down the hill...

My run went by like a blure, I didn't feel that I had gone that fast, kinda felt like I wasn't carrying speed in and out of sections so when I got to the bottom I really didn't know what to expect. It turned out that I had put a pretty solid run together. 4.13.14. That put me in the hot seat where I sat for a very long time. Not until the Top 6 or so came down and nocked me out.

I ended up winning Junior Expert and placing 5th in Pro Men. I got to go on the podium for both so I was stoked! First Pro podium!!

I would like to thank my parents for making my trip out there possible. HUGE thanks to all the guys at Devinci for keeping me running the entire weekend. As well as a big thanks to Pinkbike.

Keep the rubber side down!
