Trail Building
Even if I never had a chance to mountain bike in another country, after 5 months of riding, getting involved in biking events, reading articles and meeting riders from all over Canada and around the world, I learned how lucky I am to live in BC. Today I realized that this is one of the best places to ride in the world. I am lucky to meet some of the leaders in the biking community and I am learning lots from them. The community is working hard to keep the trails sustainable and provide the riders a positive experience.
The NSMBA (North Shore Mountain Biking Association) makes sure, this is happening, they have a very good program called TAP (trail adoption plan) where organizations adopt trails and maintain them in coordination with trail builders, volunteeers and all the right regulations with the land managers.
Now to make sure the volunteers have the right knowledge before going to the woods, the NSMBA have created the Builders Academy where people learn the fundamentals of trail maintenance and building.
This are awesome initiatives in the north shore, of course after developed my passion for mountain biking, I took the Builders Academy last month and had my first trail building experience. We started building a trail connector between the trails Pangore and Pingu in Mt. Seymour. It is time to get some Trail Karma
If you live in BC and want to get involved please visit www.nsmba.ca . There is 2 more sessions this fall.
Here is a quick video of the first 45 minutes of our field session. I will try to get more photos en video after I go to the next trail day. I am excited to see this trail finished!
Thanks for reading and Watching
