GOPRO HD HERO 960 AND NEW MOUNTS ARRIVING SOON

GoPro have some new products coming out shortly that should be in stock by the middle on October. The GoPro HD Hero 960 is the latest GoPro camera to be released and it fits in between the GoPro HD Hero and the GoPro Hero Wide range of cameras. The GoPro HD Hero 960 shoots in 960p and 720p HD and is basically a simplified version of the GoPro HD Helmet Hero. Gone from the GoPro HD Helmet Hero is the option of shooting in full 1080p HD and 720p@60fps. The expansion bus on the back of the camera has also been removed. The expansion bus on the GoPro HD Helmet Hero is designed to allow extra Backpacs such as a long life battery and LCD screen to be attached to the camera, although these are yet to be released by GoPro.So who does the GoPro HD Hero 960 suit? It is designed for casual users on a budget that still want the ability to capture HD video as well as take advantage of some of the features that the GoPro HD Helmet Hero has over the GoPro Hero Wide. For example the GoPro HD Hero 960 uses the HD Hero lithium-ion rechargeable battery rather than AAA batteries which are used to power the GoPro Hero Wide cameras (the lithium-ion battery lasts a lot longer than AAA batteries). The GoPro HD Hero 960 also comes with a slightly different mount package than any of the other GoPro cameras. It includes the headlamp style GoPro Headstrap Mount and Adhesive Mount bases that come in the Helmet Hero packages, however instead of having the Vented Helmet Mount, the GoPro HD Hero 960 comes with the new GoPro Helmet Front Mount which is designed to mount the camera pointing back at you to get self-portrait videos and photos.

The GoPro Helmet Front Mount will also be available to GoPro camera users as an individual accessory. The other accessory being release by GoPro is the GoPro HD Wrist Housing. The Wrist Housing was the first mount every developed by GoPro and it has now been updated to accept the new HD Hero range of cameras. The GoPro HD Wrist Housing allows you to wear your GoPro camera on your wrist and then flip it up to shoot videos and photos on the fly. It is great for sports like surfing, diving and climbing.
