In three years, Grasse’s Urban race became something not to be missed. In France, the reference country for downhill, this race is the only one of it’s kind, and there are only a few urban races in the world. With narrow streets and hundreds of stairs, the city in the south of France was made for this race. We saw this potential, and with Grasse’s community, we created a magical and ephemeral track that includes wall rides, road gaps and other jumps for riders to keep their speed and to amaze the spectators.

Patrick Boyer declared to journalists that the fourth edition on the 19th of November is expected to be the best yet. The major sign is that we’ve never had so many foreign athletes. There are six different champions from six different countries expected on the start line.

Petteri Leivo, the Danish champion discovered our race last year and will be traveling 3000km to take part again. The British battler, Ben Moore, who won the Singapore Urban DH took fifth place in Grasse last year. For him, it was the most incredible race. This time he will not be alone - Harry Molloy, who has done eight seasons on the World Cup circuit will also be here. He heard of the race and wanted to participate.

Last year, the only rider that ran under two minutes and took the victory was born in the Czech Republic. Tomas Slavik will return to Grasse with the intention to keep his title.

The Portuguese Champion will discover the race for the first time. The winner of the Vigo Urban race and fourth place finisher at the last Mega Avalanche and featured in the top ten at the Enduro World Series - José Borges.

We will also have Belgian racers, Nico Simon and Nicolas Mathieu.

Will the French athletes be capable of winning on home soil? As usual, Sébastien Claquin, the vice junior EWS champion in 2016 will be here. He was 3rd here last year and won in 2015 with a few tenths in front of Remy Metailler, a Grasse native. Let’s talk further about this one. Riding from the beginning, he made a 5th place on the first edition and arrived 2nd in 2015. Because of a big crash on the mythic Taxco’s urban DH (broken T6 vertebrae), he was a spectator for 2016. After months of healing, Remy who is living in Canada, made his come back at Taxco’s race with a winning run, only 15 days ago – he’s never been so motivated and will do anything to win.

The real threats come in the following forms: French and first leader of the DH World Cup in 2017 after taking victory in Lourdes -
Alexandre Fayolle will be on the starting line. Also, Camille Servant, (second place last year in Grasse) and of course a lot more riders are ready to take to Grasse’s streets.

All these international top riders will be at the start with amateurs pilots. That’s why the Grasse’s Urban DH is unique compared to others street races that are only open to professional riders.

100 entries are available, find more information on urbandh.fr and the XtremEvents's facebook page.
