Yep, my first amateur rebuild/modify/paint job. For me, personally, I just want to find out how all my trade skills cross over into ripping into a bicycle overhaul. (If you don't know what a millwright is, google: tradesecrets millwright). I'm going to try to go into depth into what I'm doing with my ride, bring you through step/pic by step/pic. Why? You might ask? It's northern Canada and winter is kicking into gear. I have access to many tools at my workplace, which happens to be a pulp mill.

My bike. A 2010, Norco Fluid 2. Bought it the same day I sold my Honda XR650R (in 2011). Cash in hand, burning a hole in my pocket. $2100.
MY ROUGH AND BY NO MEANS SUPER DETAILED,
PROPULSION SYSTEM OVERVIEW (Just to give you a feel, so you know what I'm working with here.)
-Medium Frame.
-RockShox Monarch 2.1-rear shock.
-RockShox Recon 351 front forks, lockable travel
-Elixir 5 hydraulic brakes, 185mm rotor in front, 160mm in the back.
-Shimano drive train
- 2.1x26 Rims and tires / 47mm tire width
MODIFICATIONS THAT I WISH TO ACHIEVE (FOR MORE HILL EATING MADNESS)
-185mm rotor in the rear. (I think that I may have to modify a bracket for that, bigger is better right?)
-Removal of the tacky as sh*t candy cane/red white paint scheme. REPAINT, Flat Black/Stealth Mode
-Bigger rear rim width 2.25 or 2.40 (as my front tire wouldn't fit in my car carrier, Plus it'd look badass, take more abuse)
-Lockable Rear Shock, for the climbs, (Coil over?????? Hmmmmm?????)
-Hydraulic seat post, would be sweet, but I'm not overly worried about it
-Wider Handlebars (an inch or two would be sweet.)
-Plus a shorter stem from my head post to the handlebars (it feels like I'm reaching too far out)
-Bash Guard on front sprocket
-New chain
-New grips that wont pop out the inside diameter of your handlebar tube and fill with dirt!
-Replace Spline bushing for my left pedal
-New front Sprocket sizes... (since I will only have two drive sprockets)

TUNE UPS (I will confess now, I don't know much about setting derailers, but will try!)
-Both Derailleurs reset, cleaned and greased
-Bleed brakes, good and proper
-Try to straighten out back rim, even if I destroy the rim, I'll just move up in size for the next! (She does the old wah-twos-y)
-Check Rotor wear and see if they're running true.
-Bake the brake pads! Or replace them.
-Regrease my straighline pedal bushing system
-Regrease or replace driven bearing set
-Lubricate cable sheaths with dry graphite or WD (ease of shifting, baby!)
-Reset shocks to OEM weight spec's ( I might have got fatter in life.)
