Recently, I done a lower leg service on my Suntour fork, it didn’t have any oil so I put fresh oil in even through my fork isn’t supposed to take any (however I doubt that this is my problem). I didn’t take the shafts out at all but I did put some suspension grease on the bottom, thinking that they will slide smoother. I ran into some problems (irrelevant to this post), which I had to let my air pressure out to reassemble my fork. I did this and put the fork on my bike, when I compressed the fork it went down and didn’t return, I tried to pull it back up but it was hopeless. When I tried to inflate the fork it shot up to 100psi very quickly but didn’t rise at all.
I also thought that when I greased the shafts and deflated the fork, the grease found its way into the dimple in the stanchion, which blocked the positive and negative air chambers - If so then do I need to take apart my air spring and perform another lower leg service.
I think that another possibility is that there is air in the lowers and the ‘zip-tie’ trick could solve this.
I really don’t want to be taking apart my air spring considering the fact that I have very limited tools.
I hope that I can solve this.
