Four Weeks, Two Wheels, One List

Ever since I picked up a bicycle and started seeing and emersing myself in the biking scene I've always seen the constant progression of other riders and wanted to experience that progression for myself. The only problem was that most of it was done on a nice trick step-up, foam pit, or in some cases a snow pit or water jump. Over the past few years I've tried to find or build a nice trick step-up with much difficulty, I've been to SGC in whistler and tried their foam pit but since I only found the time to go three times I didn't find the progression I was craving. My fix to this this winter was finally putting the time and comittment into building a nice roll in, 6 foot kicker, and a nice large snow pit to fall (or land) into. Thank god for really nice neighbours who lend me their spot lights for riding at night since I go to school till 3:15 and it's winter so it gets dark pretty early. For the last few months I havent really been trying to achieve my goal of progression; mostly just alot of fooling around and falling into the pit. Just the other week however I made my first ever trip to the new indoor bike park in Markham called Joyride 150. I must say that this park has to have been the best park I've been to. Everything in there was dialed to perfection and the riding was first class. By the end of the day I was getting back into the groove of riding and loving every minute of it, so it occured to me that since I now had the flow of hitting a nice line of jumps that I should work on a nice bag of tricks to go along with that so I came up with the trick list. This list I divided up into four sections of difficulty: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert (pro). After much deliberation I came up with 42 tricks in total and I am still adding more as I think of them or if I see a cool trick on Pinkbike that I would like to learn. This list has only two rules, the golden rules, that each trick MUST be landed three times in a row for it to be crossed off the list and that each section must be completely finished before moving on to the next section. I don't however have to do the tricks in order in the section nor does the trick have to be done off any jump in particular.

Just a side note, the landing for the jump was soon after transformed into a pit for crashing purposes Smile

This is the list. It will be constantly added to and I would appreciate feed back for more tricks to be added. Feel free to post any tricks you would like to see me try or do.

At the end of each week I will be posting a short web edit of my progression thus far. Even though my filming and editing skills are not first class (or even second) I will post a video in any case. At the end of these four weeks I will post a final cut along with my fourth web edit showcasing the entire time I spent on this. Again I am definately not planning to be able to get through the entire list even though that would be pretty cool, but it's about the progression and the fun I will have trying to push myself out of my comfort zone to see how much I can achieve, not about trying to be the best. Even though the title says four weeks, I will most likely continue to progress at this list and add to it for a long time. Hopefully this will inspire more people to try and be their best and not be put down by how good others are at the best sport in the world, Moutain Biking.
