Photo Epic: Crankworx Whistler - SRAM Canadian Open Enduro presented by Specialized
Our shooters were all over the mountains today during the 6th round of the Enduro World Series here at Crankworx, Whistler.
Images!
After a day and night of storms it looked threatening as things got under way today. Luckily the sun came out just as the race got underway and conditions could not have been any better.
Anytime cut spike are needed for racing you know it is going to be a good day.
Mitch Ropelato drops through the fog that was blowing in and out for the early starters on Top of the World for stage two.
The Whistler woods make for some of the best dirt on the planet.
Pauline Dieffenthaler crashed three times and lost a glove by the end of the day but she would keep fighting to take 6th.
Fresh off her first World Cup podium last weekend in Mont St Anne, Miranda Miller would go 5th again this week at the Crankworx EWS.
Anneke Beerten charging down stage 5 to a 4th place finish.
Anneke Beerten half way down Top of the World on stage two.
Isabeau Courdurier looked on form all weekend and finally landed herself a long overdue spot on the podium.
Last years winner Ceclile Ravenel pushed hard but could not match the pace of Tracy Moseley today.
Another EWS and another dominant performance from Tracy Moseley.
Because winning puts a smile on everyone's face.
Chilean Nico Prudencio far from home rallies through the rock on the top of stage two.
Nico Vouilloz looked to be in the mix early on but was never able to make a challenge to the front runners.
Marco Osborne tackles the rooks just above tree line on stage two.
Jerome Clementz was 8th today, but the tight racing at the front of the field means he was still only from being in the top 5 after 50 minutes of racing.
Fabien Barel digging deep to try and stay in the mix on stage five.
Nico Lau would run near the front for half the day with a win on stage three, but a puncture on stage four spelled disaster.
Josh Carlson came out swinging today winning both stage one and stage two.
Another solid day for Francois Bailly-Maitre who would round out the top five.
Martin Maes was so close to winning here last year and would come 4th today, a close but still distant 14 seconds behind Jared graves and the final podium spot.
Jared Graves has been building speed back the last few rounds and finished an impressive third. Just 1.8 seconds from making in a Yeti one two finish.
Today really looked like it belonged to Josh Carlson. With multiple stage wins and sitting in first, it would be a flat tire on stage five that would dash his hopes of his first EWS win.
Yoann Barelli finally regained the form he ended last season on and had an amazing day to finish in 2nd. His best EWS finish to date.
The look on Yoann's face says it all.
What can we say about Richie Rude? Consistent on every stage, pushing to the max but still able to keep his bike in one piece he would win by a massive 40 seconds. That's two wins in a row for Richie and with his nearest rivals all having off days he is now the EWS series leader with just two rounds to go.
And extra 3 psi in his tires in order to smash some rocks was the only change Richie made throughout the day.
Your top three men and women from the Crankworx Whistler EWS.
Yoann Barelli and Cecile Ravenel quench their thirst after a very long day.
Top team honors go Yeti Cycles this weekend with a first and third by Richie Rude and Jared Graves.
