Short Travel FR Bike

I like to make lists of bike parts, prices, sometimes weights to see how much a build would cost, a wheel would weigh, etc. I make these all the time and never actually end up getting whatever's on the list, but I would love to build up this bike.I have my DH bike which is my 05 Stinky, and I would love to upgrade that, but I have the feeling that a lot of new DH stuff will be coming out in 09, so instead of getting lots of new stuff for that bike and getting a huge case of buyer's remorse in 09, I am planning out a 5" travel freeride bike instead. I have no idea whether this idea will ever materialize (probably not) but it's fun to think about. I made it pretty budget, but there were a few places I wouldn't want to compromise.

When you look at the list, some items will have (-15%) after their price, this is because I can get a 15% discount on them, but didn't include that discount in the list. In addition, I purposely neglected to include wheels because this is a semi budget build, so until I can afford some nice wheels, I'll just use the ones off my Stinky which will happen to fit perfectly (20mm x 135QR).

Here it is:

Large Gruitr Frame w/ DHX5 Air $1475
Rock Shox Domain 318 U-Turn $615 (-15%)
Hussefelt Cranks $80 -15%
Used Brakes ~$180
Buy X9 stuff for Stinky and use old stuff here
Old Bars and Stem from Stinky
SDG Seat/Post $80 (-15%)
Headset $50 (-15%)
Grips $20 (-15%)
Use old Stinky Pedals
BB already have
Pg970 11-21 Cassette $35
Chain $20 (-15%)
Guide None until I can afford one, maybe try to make a ghetto one, how hard can it be?
Tires $70 (-15%)
Other (installation for stuff, QR skewers, cable etc) $100

>2715 w/out wheels, Nice wheelset later

I would order a bunch of stuff from because of their 15% off of orders over $300 (code: vip15), this is what the order looks like:

This is all pretty approximate but it is doable. I'll mention it to my parents and see how they react Big Grin .
This would be a Jump, freeride, and xc build that I would use at local jumps and trails.
