Support for this sweepstakes contributes directly to SCMTS’ Timeless Trails campaign to improve and expand trail access in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Current projects include:

New Access: 19 miles of new trail for cyclists and hikers on the Santa Cruz coast.

— Currently, the SCMTS Trail Crew is finishing construction on the third, most challenging loop of trail at Cotoni-Coast Dairies, a new National Monument with public access trails.

Trail Improvements: Weekly volunteer maintenance events to improve trails across local parks.

— SCMTS hosts four weekly volunteer events in popular parks like Wilder Ranch State Park and Pogonip Open Space Preserve. The work completed at these events improves the safety and fun of local trail networks.

Community Connections: Getting more trail users involved in stewardship at National Trails Day.

— SCMTS is gearing up for its annual National Trails Day mega-event on June 1, during which 600+ community members will come out to maintain trails and have fun together. This event will improve trails in 20+ local parks, plus build essential connections between trail users and open spaces.

Santa Cruz Bicycles’ PayDirt program is in its fourth year of operation and currently funds 55 projects across 8 different countries. The brand builds on nearly a decade of support from the Santa Cruz Bicycles team, and channels essential funding to projects like the paved Westside Pump Track in Santa Cruz, the Flow Trail in Soquel Demonstration State Forest, and this new trail network at Cotoni-Coast Dairies.

“Getting outside and onto trails is a joy that’s easy to take for granted,” said Matt De Young, executive director of SCMTS. “The reality is that trails can take years of hard work to design and build, and many require ongoing annual maintenance to stay in great shape for mountain bikers and hikers, especially in the face of extreme weather events and climate change. We’re lucky to have partners like Santa Cruz Bicycles and PayDirt that acknowledge the need for more support for trail builders, and generously offer up their bikes to our cause.”

Time’s ticking to pitch in for trails! Click here to support SCMTS and enter to win a Santa Cruz bike today.
