Martin Swiss Local Rides

May 12, 2009 at 13:27
by Justin Spag
Based on the success of the Martin Swiss road rides, the shop’s mountain bikers have decided to start their own ride.

The plan is this: meet at the store on Saturday evenings around 5:00 p.m and head out for a 1 to 2 hour local ride. All the rides are meant to be fun, non competitive and help all the riders improve their skills. Any rider with any mountain style bike is welcome. All we ask is that you wear a helmet.

If your interested give us a call, send us an e-mail at [email protected], Or just stop by Martin Swiss and let us know.About Martin’s Swiss Cycle

The Martin’s Swiss Repair Shop was established in 1937 and has since evolved through the years to become the nervous system of a thriving, closely knit cycling community.

Being a small independent business, it’s of imperial importance that Martin’s Swiss recognizes that a healthy community structure is what has allowed us to continue doing what we love through the decades. We would like to thank all those who have been working, riding and shopping with us through the years. Martin’s has great bikes for sale, but it’s the people who form the surrounding community that make the store much more than just a retail and service shop.
As well as offering technical service at a list of competitive events every year, Martin’s works with racing teams and other small businesses in order to “stay close to the action” and literally put our tools to the test so that we can better serve our clients with the best of what really works on the market. Martin’s would like to specifically thank the following organizations: the Caylon/Litespeed Pro Cycling Team, the Bluberi-Martin Swiss Team, Premier Studio and Evolution Concept.

Martin’s is a bike shop run by avid cyclist for avid cyclist. Aside getting out for a ride early in the morning or late in the day, our goal is to provide riders with the best available equipment for their intended riding. Whether it’s a road or downhill racing bike, a city commuter or a kid’s bike, Martin’s Swiss Cycle fits riders to bikes that have the right features to satisfy immediate needs with room to become increasingly passionate about cycling.
It’s important to make a distinction between “expensive” and “serious” with respect to what kind of shop Martin’s Swiss Cycle really is. Though the shop is located in one of the country’s wealthiest neighbourhoods, shoppers should know that Martin’s sets prices according to the lowest suggested retail allowed by suppliers and that any lower reported or advertised price will be considered, matched or beaten(!). The products that Martin’s Swiss Cycle carries in stock are all evaluated thoroughly and painstakingly, keeping in consideration the many qualities that a leading product must possess: proven technology, quality, reliability, durability and value for the ticket price. Martin’s has established close relationships with it’s suppliers through the years to be able to not only provide customers with the best of what’s on the market, but to also offer them the best possible technical support.

The Martin’s Swiss staff is a nutty bunch of cycling-crazed enthusiasts that have grown up in cycling communities, either personally or professionally, having seen the best and worse of what has been at the top of the market over the last thirty-plus years.
Our sales staff is experienced with the products in and out of the shop, and in most cases will discuss how they use products personally rather than settling for an impersonal and old-fashion sales “song and dance” routine. Our mechanics are detail-obsessed, multi-talented technicians who can discuss and properly set up the most cutting-edge parts and products available on the market. The Martin’s Swiss staff is not payed on commission or motivated through sales “rewards”. The staff’s concern is not to close the most sales possible, but rather to help clients make intelligent investments in products that work, even if it involves discussing new products that are not yet stocked in the shop.

Martin’s Swiss would like to remind cyclists that the most important thing is that we maintain and/or improve our ability to ride by making smart choices personally and competitively with respect to the products we use. Develop an intimate relationship with a leading bike shop, ride a bike that fits you properly and keep your bike in tip-top working condition. (…and wear a helmet when you ride it!)
