Canada Olympic Park's mountain bike program has risen to the forefront of newscasts over the past week as a result of rumors circulating about its closure in the future.

Mountain biking is seen as a core component to the long-term vision of transforming Canada Olympic Park into the Canadian Centre of Sport Excellence.

This past year has been one of the best on record for the mountain bike program with season passess increasing 35 per cent, and the hosting of the Mountain Bike World Cup for the first time in the Park's history. CODA is excited about this increase in participation, and the future of the program into next season.Currently, CODA’s executive team is working with the City of Calgary on an area restructuring plan which potentially may allow the Park to further expand its mountain bike trails into the Nordic Slopes area. In addition, discussions are already underway to bring back the 2005 Mountain Bike World Cup.

Owned and operated by CODA, Canada Olympic Park is Alberta’s second largest tourist attraction outside the Rocky Mountains, welcoming more than 1.3 million visitors each year. Boasting the second largest ski school in Canada, C.O.P. offers a wide range of ski, snowboard and Olympic winter sport programs for all ages and abilities.
