This was a Story i did for an english projectBiting the bullet is one of the scariest and most wonderful feelings that you can have. Doing something that scares you so much that you could wet yourself in conquering it. Everyone has fears, some are a silly little things, while others are huge. In all extreme sports there is always a enomous risk of injury but, if you do go big, and you do bite the bullet then there is glory, and to achieve that glory after being so scared you can barely stand to look at yourself in a mirror then you have conquered something far greater.... Your Mind
A good example of this for me came from my friend Nathan, we are good mates and we share the same interests in mountain biking. Generally I was a better rider than him but Nate always had a few tricks up his sleeve. One day we were riding a trail through a thick pine forest when we came to the most dangerous part of the track. In this small section there was a jump onto a platform five metres above ground, to get down from that platform was a fifteen metre drop onto a sloped landing. We got off our bikes and scoped out a smooth line then we flipped a coin to see who would ride it first and who would film it. I won and headed off to start my run up. With a quick check to make sure Nate was ready I pushed off, I approached the jump next thing I knew I was sailing through the air onto the platform.... and then the drop. You can sometimes tell when you’re going to crash on landing, on this particular jump I knew was going to, when that happens all you can do is brace yourself and hope for the best. I hit the ground hard and my bike slipped out from underneath me. My body connected heavily with the ground and started tumbling. When I stopped I got up slowly and checked myself for injuries, none other than the bruises I would have tomorrow. I walked back up to Nate took the camera off him, he walked up to start his run up looking very pale, he came speeding down and sailed off the jump and landed on the platform and then he stopped, he just stopped. I knew he hadn’t been having the best day but this was different he had just seen me have a pretty decent stack, but if was going to guess what was stopping him I’d have to say it was the rumours of the guy who broke his back doing this drop. He was frozen in terror, I shouted at him but he ignored me, he stood there for what seemed like half an hour, and then he rode it, he was very shaky but he did it. When we finally got to the car he said “you got any spare undies for me”.
That’s called biting the Bullet
