"Are you bored yet?" One of the riders asked me. I forgot his name. Actually, I forgot his name a number of times, or maybe that was the other way around.
How could I possibly be bored? I've got a camera in my hands and these guys are hitting some of the biggest jumps I've witnessed. Perhaps my adrenaline isn't flowing quite as much as the riders', but I'm stoked in my own way. I've got one roll of film to shoot and endless opportunities to fill the frames.
I probably spent the majority of my time at Cruz Fest looking at the world framed by a rectangle. Waiting patiently for the moment I wanted or quickly realizing there was something better than anticipated happening in that rectangle. I'd hold my breath as I quickly pressed the shutter hoping everything was set right.
"This is play", the wisest man in the place said to me. My favourite thing to capture, in any form of the word: playtime.
