Waterbury Bike Park Part 2

So, the initial clean up and the new design have been talked about and started. We had one good successful afternoon of work and since May 8th and we have had lots of help keeping the park maintained. Today, Mr. B came down to show his bike crew what we have been working on!While our first real work day was cloudy and rainy, we soon found some sunshine that would give us full view of the hard work we put into the park. Mr.B came down with the crew from his bike club and helped us pack down all the trails! We even build a small balance beam to "test their skills".


Watching all the kids ride around the park and seeing Mr.B try to coax tem over the elements was like watching a dog trainer get dogs to jump through a burning hoop for the first time, but then again some of the others were all too eager to jump the hoop and do it while standing on their seats. Many of them are dare devils, always inviting you to see what they are about to do. "Look at me, I can make it over that jump". A few are as fearful as the sky that falls on them but in time, that will change. And just a couple would rather run around and chase bugs than ride, but they all are here to have a good time, biking or not I suppose.


All the kids took their turns around the park, this way and that. Sometimes it seemed a pile up of knees and elbows, but for the most part, all of the kids had their fun and tackles with jumps, pumps and triumphs. Mr. B has quite a group of followers and all are learning great skills and will eventually be the Bike Park Future builders!
