Need some advice on the rear shock as many frames come with a cane creek dbair cs, presumably with the full 180 of rear travel which I would think would be designed to run with 200mm fork...

I have seen a few online reviews talking about using a shorter stroke shock reducing rear travel to 164mm for use with 180mm forks.

What happens to the geometry if I..

a) don't run a shorter shock with 180 forks?
b) I do run a shorter stroke shock with 180 forks?

Which is the best option?

Most 180mm forks have the same axle to crown length, so it will most likely feel exactly the same as if you had a Boxxer/other 200mm dual crown fork.

Keep the stock CCDB and enjoy full travel Smile

Thanks for the advice, so would a single crown fox van 180mm have the same axel to crown length as a dual crown / triple clamp 200mm fox 40 for example?

I want to keep the full 180 on the rear but i just don't want it to compromising the geometery..

According to this website from Fox :
http://service.foxracingshox.com/consumers/Content/2013_CD_user_specs.htm

The 36 180mm has a 565mm length, while the Fox 40 has a 571mm. So for 6mm, you could balance it by adding 5mm of spacers bellow the stem, but let's be honest, you won't feel the difference Smile

Thats really good to know because the Darksides geometry is based around a fork with axel-crown length of 565, looks like ill be keeping a nice full plush 180 of travel in the rear!
