Hi all,

I upgraded my break set yesterday night to a new set of breaks and rotors.
As I was tightening the very last bolt on my caliper, it gave in and stripped about 3mm of thread from my fork mount.
Turns out the screw was too long. Confused

It now feels firm (does not move, not even a millimiter if shaken with hand) but I cannot tighten completely. It’s just missing the final 1/4th of tightening to be completely done.

I feel quite positive that it can be safely ridden, but I’d like to hear your opinion. Is it completely mad or am I right that it’s a fairly small damage and should hold ok?

The other bolt is completely fine and tighten.

Here's how much material was removed from the fork:
Stripped from fork mount while fitting caliper. Big problem or can be ridden safely

Thanks!

You're probably okay, but I would still install a threaded insert just to be on the safe side. Like so many things in life, you buy the ticket, take the ride, and see what happens. YOU will be the one living with the decision regardless of what you decide or who you listen to.

Best of luckSmile
