I've been working on getting more height on jumps and was thinking that if I removed the 2 spacers under my stem it would be easier for me to pull up. I'm 6'2 so lowering the bars will also help me by slightly extending the reach. I think at least. Comments?
Higher works better for me.. 3" rise bars and 3-4 spacers on my DJ
5.5" bars and 4-5 spacers on my street bike
Seems to put me in a better, less hunched over position, allows my arms to work more and lower back work less..
Just a thought for you to ponder
wow just looked at your setup, that looks so tall. I currently have 2 spacers under and 2 above the stem so I will play around both ways today to see how it feels.
In the BMX world, handlebars have been getting taller and people running top-load and even riser stems.
The S&M Perfect 10 handlebars (10" rise) came out around 2010, and back then they were almost considered a joke. But now, there are quite a few 10"s (and even 11"s), and a lot of 9" bars.
In the early/mid 2000's the most popular bars were under 8" rise, with front load stems.
I think MTB/DJ has gone through both trends. For a while, especially for chromoly street bikes, it was 3"+ rise. But, after slopestyle blew up, I think people started liking the look of flatter Downhill bars.
But, flat DH bars are a lot taller on a 6"+ travel slope bike (because of the taller fork). DH bars are pretty low when combined with an 80mm or 100mm fork.

Ultimately, it's all personal preference.
thanks for the input, I think with this in mind I'll try going taller

You may or may not have seen the 7.5" bars I messed with for a little while, that was too much, the 5.5 seems to be the happy spot for me, but thats also on a "street" geo frame with a steeper HT Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/sublimewind/Bike%20Pics/IMG_20160416_074332.jpg I still run a 3" rise on my DJ with a slacker HT, but I have a flipped BMX stem and 2-3 spacers Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/sublimewind/Bike%20Pics/20160720_202558.jpg
