I'm really tempted to try and grab one of those bikes. See what the bids look like at the end.

Last I checked, a lot of them seemed pretty reasonable...but bidding doesn't usually heat up till near the end of the auction.

I always thought I was the slowest being to ever get on those Ksyrium wheels, nice to see I'm actually a close second.

have you seen the weights of geared hubs lateley?

Mid you that weight changes hub, cassette and derraileurs (both of them since you have 600% range). So that's pretty much similar weight.

If I ever put serious money into a fat bike for bike packing I may consider one of them. Hydraulic shifting and single speed in effect would be seriously maintenance free.

i'm still not 100% sold but i definitely like where this is going.

maybe 2 smaller / lighter units, 1 in hub the other at BB, 3x4 or 4x4 sets of gears, and tied together with a single electronic shifter that manages both??
i can't help see all that concentrated weight as a rear wheel anchor

a CVT would be interesting, weight and efficiency aside
