Starting to feel the pain of Interbike-Day #3 of the Indoor Expo - Part #1

Oct 4, 2005
by Tyler Maine
Wow, between the lack of sleep, lack of proper food and the long days wondering this massive expo area, I'm starting to feel rough. Ah the joys of being on the road. I'm ready to go back home, but there's work to be done. Here is the first part of our day #3 coverage.Since this is our last day here and we want to see so much more of the show, Harookz and I decided to go off on our own for a few hours before lunch and see how many booths we could cover.

Marshall at Raceface showed me the new clothing line up for '06 which featured updated Session Pants and a sick shop shirt. The ladies "Hoodlum" jacket was really tight too.

Having such a strong component line up, much was untouched for next year. Their Seatposts have all been redesigned and have infinite adjustment. They have upgraded the bearing in all the headsets. THe carbon bars have all gone on a diet and are now lighter.

Raceface's newest offering is a chainguide. They took all the current chainguides on the market and looked at them thouroughly to see what was working best and what they felt needed to be approved upon. This is what they came up with:

Rocky Mountain bicycles will be the first company to OEM spec this chainguide for '06.

Elayna and Mark were on hand at Fox Racing Shox to go over new suspension works and changes to the already great line up.

The flagship 40 has remained pretty much unchanged for 2006, after such a successful 2005 season.

New for 2006 is the introduction of the 36 VAN RC2 to follow in the footsteps created by its brother the 36 TALAS. 160mm of coil sprung travel as opposed to the air sprung TALAS. The travel is fixed at 160mm, but the fork has a lower ride height. This fork is one tough cookie. The DHX line up of rear shocks will stay strong with the coils and have now introduced an air series. The DHX air shocks are aimed at providing light, long travel options to the all mountain and freeride crowds. It is not a DH race shock. The new trail forks, the Float X and TALAS X Trail Tuned, are what you get when inertia meets trail needs of the non racers out there.

I really can't explain how big this expo area is, it's fairly easy to get turned around in here. So while I was tryign to find my next appointment, I managed to visit a lot of booths along the way.

Jamis Bicycles came out with their first freeride offering this year with the Diablo line up. These bikes have really nice welds and look like they'll be a blast in the mountains. For a first freeride bike, I'm excited to see what else Jamis has in the works for us gravity inclined folks.
