The penultimate round of the California Enduro Series, Mammoth Mountain’s sold out Kamikaze Bike Games Enduro finished off a great weekend at the legendary venue on Sunday, September 21st in Mammoth Lakes, CA. Typical loose sandy conditions were replaced with prime conditions due to rains overnight, and during the rider’s meeting just before the race start. The course lost its Kamikaze stage from the 11,053’ summit due to the weather, but there were still 3 great stages that provided plenty of good times. Stage 1 featured a technical start with rocks and sandy turns, had lung-busting flats and climbs in the middle, and finished on the lower part of the Pro GRT DH course. Stage 2 had a flowy trail section at the start, one good uphill kick, and finished down a race favorite, the Follow Me trail. After a pedal transfer to the Gondola station, Stage 3 started with some fast traverses, and the rest packed jumps, rough sections, a couple small climbs, and the bottom of the Pro GRT DH track again. Racers were very happy with the gift of rain from Mother Nature, and all agreed the event was a great time.
300 racers took shelter from the quick hailstorm that passed just before racing began.
Marco Osborne (WTB/Cannondale) has been on a tear this season, winning the Pro GRT DH on Saturday, and taking second in the Enduro on Sunday.
Casey Coffman has been leading the pro CES series ranks since Round 2, but a major mechanical on stage 2 means he will be fighting hard at the finals Oct 10th.
Ashton Smith charging hard all weekend in the Cat 1 class.
The legend Brian Lopes took it to the youngsters all weekend, taking the Enduro win with time to spare.
Amy Morrison charged hard to take back time on stages 2 and 3 to take the top step in pro women, a place she's been standing often this season.
Shimano's Marketing manager Joe Lawwill spends his time making sure his athletes' bikes are running perfect, and still finds time to rip up the pro class!

1st Brian Lopes (Intense)
2nd Marco Osborne (WTB/Cannondale)

1. DONT OVERLAP races with podiums (or other races for that matter and especially the same Categories) ...
2. Mark the courses ENTIRELY at intersections. this means BOTH sides of the trail.
3. HAVE FOOD available while racers wait three hours for results after racing for 4 hours straight. (even if its a $9 hotdog)
4. Have an overall winner (points of all race results combined) it is the spirit of the kamikaze after all... all out madness (and increase your entry numbers!)
5. Simplify the practice tickets/ race day mess. Go ahead and charge more and include it... just make it simple so all the employees know what is going on.
6. Create different pricing for teams who need a team pit from companies who are there to sell stuff and make money.
7. Your trails are awesome. I hope they stay that way!
check the CES face book page. www.facebook.com/californiaenduroseries or the photographers website. www.calledtocreation.com. It doesn't look like all the weekends photos are up yet, but I'd imagine they will be in the next day or two.
Are you slow or just plain stupid? Don't ever judge a book by it's cover. Since you have obviously been brainwashed into thinking that 6 pack abs and a beach body translates into an "Athlete" your post shall be given a pass. However when you are admiring your beach body, after that intense crossfit workout, please remember that you are a slow and pathetic rider compared to Amy Morrison.
