Round two of the UK Gravity Enduro Series took place in the stunning Lake District in Northern England. This year stage five was a completely new trail providing some of the most challenging racing in the series so far.
Punctures were a constant danger particularly on stage three which was very fast and rocky. Stage five was also the seeding stage taking place on the Saturday after official practice. The weather was hot, dry and sunny making the newly dug top section dusty and loose. In seeding, Ed Roberts took the top spot for the elite males with 2:09.699 and Helen Gaskell putting in a solid 2:46.602 making her the fastest elite female going into Sunday.
The rain forecast for Sunday arrived early and the women left the arena in very tough conditions. By midday the rain stopped and soon after the hot sun had dried parts of the stages although it made holding a line difficult and the stages sluggish. A consistently fast but conservant race run with a reliable tyre setup was to be proven successful on the day as John Owen of Pivot UK took the win in the elite males and Helen Gaskell riding for Scott UK taking the win in the elite female category with a margin of just under a minute.
Thanks to Steve Parr and all the organisers for putting on another fantastic event for UK mountain biking.
