Lenzerheide has spent the last two years building five new trails between the mid-station Scharmoin and Rothorn base-station. This includes the black DH track called STRAIGHTline that will be used for the World Cup races in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and for the World Championships in 2018.

Making of MTB Worldcup

Swiss trail buildes Trailworks were engaged to plan and realized the new tracks at Lenzerheide Bikepark. DH World Champ Steve Peat and legendary Swiss DH Rider Claudio Caluori assisted Trailworks in an advisory capacity to help shape the World Cup track STRAIGHTline. As you'd expect, both aren't shy in coming forward with a few opinions or two on how to make Lenzerheide one hell of a memorable World Cup track.

Yea if I watch a WC race and think to myself that I could ride the track then its probably not a good track.

Lenzerheide will be the next step in evolution of tracks. I like the decision to place the finish line just before the last big jump so the riders can concentrate on their style (not mentined here)

I rode my first dh race on that track last year in hobby class...i like the track it has a some really gnar sections and a bit of everything a dh rider asks for. but i think there are gnarlier tracks on the wc to be honest...depends maybe also on the speed i think...i was almost 1min and 30sec slower than brendan fairclough and Peaty on a 2km track.says it all ;-) my hands suffered like hell. not used to ride a track in one go. but still i think there are gnarlier tracks...and it is pretty short (2km) if they dont extend it. i am very curious what the wc guys will do there.

Good thing they subtitled Claudio, I could hardly even hear it was him. Sounds like he has a really sore throat or something. Heal up well, before the next track preview Claudio, or you might end up doing permanent damage to your vocal cords!

Hearing Claudio talk in his mother tongue, maaaaan, I really had to wrap my head around being able to understand him, with him speaking German (don't be hatin', you know what I mean) instead of English. AWESOME! Big Grin Can't wait for this track!

Road gap was closed last summer, other parts are not too difficult - yet? It will be a matter of speed.
