Cusco and Ollantaytambo The trip started with some problems, like my bike not making it to our final destination, Rob's three temporary teeth falling off and Rene missing one flight and arriving in Cusco one day later. Our problem solver, Alistair Matthew, sorted things out so I was able to ride some oldtimer bikes until my bike arrived on Thursday and Rob had an interesting visit at a local dentist. Not too bad after all.

Revolucion!
After one acclimatization day in Cusco we moved to Ollantaytambo, a town in the Sacred Valley and where the Inka trail to Machu Picchu starts. The landscape is magnificent and so are the trails. I don't remember their names and I don't want to ask Alistair who is catching up on a 12 hour sleep right now. This is supposed to be our only resting day, even if I doubt we will be more in shape tomorrow, because there is a 4 day party going on in town and our local guide, an American guy named KB, is trying to organize a roof top party this afternoon. Pisco sour!
Rene
We are staying at
kbperu.com, a hotel that KB built some years ago. He also offers guided mountain bike tours and he knows nearly every rideable trail in the region. Don't miss it if you are ever coming here with your bike, as the restaurant is the best in town - and the Pisco sours too.
Local beauty
Tomorrow we are moving to another valley for some new trails and on Thursday we will be back here because some locals are building a jump over a canyon that the guys want to hit before leaving.
If you are interested in riding and working in the Andes,
Gravity Bolivia is searching for guides.
