awesome setup man !!!...heavy duty but way more compact than what's out there atm, nice job !!!...there's no doubt, if I'd live closer, I'd have you design/build an idea I had for a while...I'd like a removeable 4 bike rack that would fit Inside a truck bed and would just roll in and out when opening the tail gate...the bikes would be secured on the rack and the whole thing would just roll/slide into channels/rails already bolted Inside the bed,,,or something like that...

Used to have exactly that in my old 4runner! Wasn't hard to do at all, I just got tired of having to ratchet down the fork to fit the bars in.. I built this entire rack out of just what I had in the shop for prototype testing. Keeping in mind that im EXTREMEMLY picky, I declared the rack a failure until I can find better bearings and a much stronger latch. That, and even while I was building it I was already changing the design. The next version will be ENTIRELY different. But one thing about this rack... The fact that it swings out isn't the cool part. The cool part is that it holds trail tools on the back side, and the wheel trays are interchangeable. One rack will hold a road bike, a 29er, a bmx bike, a mtn bike and a snowboard all at the same time. Or 4 road bikes, all bmx bikes, etc...

Patents and evidence of prior art are your friend. If you hit an idea you want to patent, call John Pentecost at Yeti and lock it up. He is why E13 was the king of patents. Good guy too.

Just send me this one since you hate it. I'll promise to use it like a mofo, never speak of it again...and thank you randomly from the bottom of my heart.

Ha, you know id loved to hook you up...but I gotta keep this going so I need to sell one to build two more, then 4, then 8, then dominate the world! Muahahahahahahaha! But seriously, if I give this one away then my rack building days are done. I'm that broke. And is frustrating because I have SO many ideas! Also, that rack no longer exists. I have no time for failures, gotta keep pushing forward. The issues with the hinge and latch were slowing my progress on usability so I chopped that over up and used its guts on the current rack. The current one is no bullshit, no swing out, nothing. And its still trickest rack I've seen. And has a few new tricks as well! No details until I'm ready to post pics again. I can't stop people from stealing ideas, but I can at least say I had them first.

@dirteveryday: I have no idea how I found this commenting section, but it made me happy.
