I cut free hand with a chainsaw. It just takes a lot of practice. I've cut hundreds and hundreds of board feet free hand for the past 7 years. A big, strong saw and a sharp chain helps big time, but again, its all practise.
Thanks! I have to admit, I'm not the best skinny rider... so like to build them lower with a clean fall zone. Makes it easier to commit and get on them.
Safety is always better than injury.
I know for myself when Im building trails I always think about the lesser of a rider who might get hurt.
I don't like the responsibility of knowing a section I built took someone out!
