my headsets are always properly installed as i'm supported by a bike shop. Other frames with external headsets are re-inforced in that area to prevent flaring. Most people don't ride hard. Thats why few people have a problem with it. I saw in a video of matt mcduf that he had a collor on his headtube. I think that if you're so stuborn about keeping with external headsets you should at least make frames with the collar. Must be like what $20 at the most and it would prevent a very expensive problem. Seems silly to ignore sugestions...
Most people (me included) do ride hard. Yes, Matt Macduff has a couple of custom additions to his bike to make it handle his particular riding style better. This is not indicative of a problem with the rest of the line. If there was a major issue with head-tube fatigue, it would be remedied. As you so knowledgeably pointed out, it is an easy thing to fix. I'm not ignoring your suggestion, thanks for the input.
fair enough. It only struck out to me as the rest of the frame is so well thought out. I did thrash my frame for 15 months before it happened, but I probably still would be if it had that one simple addition. Was also dissapointed with the customer service after my frame broke but there's no point going into that...
